Comic Picks of the Week

This week continues the “Awesome Marvel Lady Titles” month with the release of She-Hulk #1

This cover is dynamite – my favorite cover of the week. If the inside is half as good as the cover, She-Hulk will have a new convert. In addition to this, Marvel is releasing She-Hulk by Dan Slot – the Complete Collection for anyone that wants to read up on our shapely green friend.

Image is also releasing a few new series for those not interested in supes.

This book offers us a pre-WWII romp on the mercenary ship Venture. To me it basically sells as Firefly in a different century – so I’m game. It’s also written by Kel Symons whose work I particularly enjoyed in I Love Trouble.

Batman Lil Gotham is currently my favorite version of the DC universe. It’s out of continuity and adorable. If you’re not reading it yet – jump on the train with the rest of us!

If you read my post about Vertigo, you’ll know I have mixed feelings about Coffin Hill. This issue promises to give us a conclusion to the current storyline, and hopefully answer my questions regarding whether or not to continue buying this series. If you are into supernatural horror, it’s a decent book with a few pacing issues – but Inaki Miranda’s art is stellar and hopefully Kittredge  is starting to hit her pace.

The end of Fatale is coming  with issue 26. We’re getting close to the end and the stakes are just getting higher with this new story arc.

I’ve really enjoyed Ten Grand so far – and Joe Fitzgerald’s journey into hell has been spectacular. With the addition a new character – an angel cast out of heaven – the journey has become better. Joe’s a great character, but it was high time we got to enjoy a new personality to go along with the change in scenery.

Writer: Simon Spurrier Artist: Rock-He Kim

Team books often leave me feeling a bit meh, but I am going out on a limb for this book because of my love of Simon Spurrier. He has written two of my favorite non-superhero books in the last year (Six Gun Gorilla and Numbercruncher), so I am willing to give him a shot on this Marvel book.

That’s it for this week! Let me know if you have more/better suggestions in the comments.
